Chesterfield County Public Schools annually recognizes four beginning teachers. From 419 new teachers working in Chesterfield schools in 2023-24, here are the top Beginning Teachers of the Year:
The Elementary School Beginning Teacher of the Year is Amanda Matejunas (on left), who teaches fifth grade at Winterpock Elementary.
The Middle School Beginning Teacher of the Year is Edward Allen (second from left), who teaches sixth grade social studies at Manchester Middle.
The High School Beginning Teacher of the Year is Morgan Gilbert (on right), who teaches world history and Virginia and U.S. history at Midlothian High.
The overall CCPS Beginning Teacher of the Year is Caroline Gryder (second from right), who teaches music at Bellwood Elementary.
